Trunk Shows and Workshops

Are you interested in having me come speak to your quilt guild and maybe teach a workshop?

Oh that would be fantastic! I love making new friends so here are some details:

30 Minute Slide Show with a 10 Minute Show and Tell

Fee : $150 plus travel expenses outside of the Richmond/Greater Vancouver, BC area.

1 Day Workshop – Paper Piecing for Beginners (max 14 students)

Fee: $300 plus travel expenses outside of the Richmond/Greater Vancouver, BC area.

Includes all pattern templates and instructions for a project of your choice containing my patterns for sale and those published in early magazine issues. Projects published in books and recent magazine issues would require an additional cost for copies of the book or magazine for each attendee.

The Paper piecing for beginners workshop featuring the Fox and Gnome Totebag has had a lot of great feedback! It’s for sewists and quilters who have never really gotten the hang of paper piecing (aka foundation piecing) and would love to learn. I will also show all of my advanced piecing tips and tricks for those who could use a technique refresher. Basic sewing skills are required. Attendees should be comfortable with a sewing machine, rotary mat and cutter, and be ready to play! Expect to finish the 4 paper pieced sections during the workshop. Quick and experienced paper piecers might be able to get both front panels sewn together by the end of the day.

If you have any questions at all please fill in the contact form below and I’ll be in touch just as soon as I can.

Here’s what some nice people have said about my Trunk shows and Workshops:

I just had to email you three and tell you how much I enjoyed Sonja’s presentation last night. She is so honestly enthusiastic about her art. She was a pleasure to listen to. She was well prepared, informative, interesting and her timing was perfect. I bought one pattern and now I think I must go to Sonja’s website. It is just all too exciting. I like doing paper piecing. I had forgotten that!

Thank you SO much for coming to our FVMQG meeting & for your awesome presentation, and for enduring the insane traffic nightmare! Everyone loved having you & seeing your amazing work!! You rock!

I was really happy with the workshop. Sonja was clear and had the right ratio of instruction and practice time. She was really good at walking around to help everyone. I felt I could go at a comfortable pace without rushing to catch up or waiting for further instructions. I liked how we were given the pattern with instructions to take home and the gifts (add a quarter and seam ripper) were a nice surprise.

Sonja was great, she was organized, she definitely knew her stuff and I would take a class by her anytime. The setting was great too.  Very enjoyable.
