The VMQG at Trout Lake
Last week, my beloved Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild decided to take advantage of our fleeting west coast summer weather and held our August meeting at Trout Lake.
And was it ever lovely!
Terry brought her quilt frame along so people could snag some shots of their work
and well, I had to snag some shots too…
We kicked the meeting off with the official receiving of our pouches from the PMQG! Wow, were there were some snazzy pouches!
And show and tell was pretty awesome too..
We always have a great time, and laugh a lot!
We were lucky to have some professional quilt holders in attendance that day to show the baby quilt tops we made at the meetup in Seattle..
and a very special helper for the giveaway and challenge of Cynthia Frenette’s – Modern Quilts for Robert Kaufman 1/2 yard stacks..
And I was lucky enough to win one!
Congrats to Holly for an honourable mention in the lastest issue of Canadian Living Magazine!
I always leave our meetings on a super high, and I really look forward to the next one.
If you want to see more shots from the meeting, click over to the VMQG Flickr Group!
Happy Friday everyone!

Thanks for giving me a chance to re-live a wonderful meeting, Sonja! What a great post! I love all these photos taken with natural light. Thanks for featuring my cute quilt holder and giveaway helper!
Love your outdoor meeting. Looks like a lot of fun and talent.
it was a lovely evening – our professional quilt holders did such a great job, and I’m with you – I always leave the meeting super enthused and raring to quilt! We’ve got such a great group, and you caught the fun and laughter we share so very well.
I am jealous that you won one of the FQ stacks though…
What a brilliant idea – a picnic meeting in the park
I wonder how many passers-by enquired about your group – you look like a fun talented lot …
You are so fortunate to have so many quilters as part of your guild. Looks like a great time!
Beautiful! I love that perspective house quilt. Amazing stuff all around!
any chance there is a pattern out there available for the quilt with sailboats? I’d LOVE to make that as a wall hanging for my babe #3 on the way! Thanks!
Hi Leah,
That quilt was made by Paul Krampitz. Here is his website http://paulsblockparty.blogspot.ca/?m=1. I’m pretty sure that quilt was an improv piece, but try contacting him anyway. You never know!
Leah, Paul created the sailboat quilt, but I don’t think he’s published a pattern for it. He blogged about it here: http://paulsblockparty.blogspot.ca/2012/09/workshops.html You can find his email address in his profile. Good luck with baby #3!
