Winter Critters Alert!

December 18, 2011

It’s time to keep your eyes peeled on the newsstands for the Jan/Feb issue of Quiltmaker magazine, as the second part of the Winter Critters wall hanging is lurking within its pages.

Some eager beavers have already whipped up their own touque clad critters…

Karen who blogs at Laughter in Quilts made this beauty:

By Karen from Laughter in Quilts

Patty, a fellow Canadian who blogs at Retired to Quilt made this one, complete with a bunch of nuts for the little squirrel:

I adore the raccoon’s striped touque!

And Jen Johnston bought the kit from Quiltmaker and I had to do a double take as it’s nearly identical to the one I made!

I love seeing all the different interpretations of the pattern, and how the different kinds of quilting in the background lends a unique feel to each piece.

Well done ladies! I can’t tell you how fun it is to see your darling wall hangings! Please feel free to snag a featured button for your blogs! (they’re over on the right sidebar)

ooh, it’s awesome to see that Patti’s used the woodgrain fabric for the tree, that’s what i was planning too!

i was so excited to see the issue out, i literally grabbed it from the shelf! it was kind of a nice reminder of everyone back home, while i was living in a town of 646 people! (647 with me?!) one of my grandma’s homecare workers is a quilter, and she saw it on the table – oh, i just got my copy of that too. i opened it right up and showed her your pattern – this is my friend Sonja! she designs amazing paperpieced patterns!

and it was a great issue, with a lot of modern content. i’m thinking that i’m going to use the grey and brights paperpieced pattern for the FVMQG Habitat challenge (you know, once i finally finish my VMQG Habitat challenge quilt!)
