Quilt by the Bay Retreat!

March 3, 2011

Last Saturday the VMQG held their first Quilting Retreat!!

It was hosted by Krista of Poppyprint Creates, up in Lions Bay, just north of Vancouver on the way to Whistler. Gorgeous, gorgeous area.

I was clearly too short to get a good shot of the foggy bay:

Around 35 quilters moved into the hall Krista had well prepared, and boy did we have fun chatting, sewing, show and telling and eating!

Our collection of living room lamps gave us quilt retreat virgins away!

Show and tell was fun,

So was checking out the sewing machines!

And the projects that were brought:

Look what Karen is doing with Maya’s Embroidery Pattern!

Through the reducing glass…

What a nifty thing!! I am definitely getting one. Here’s another neato shot:

This is a group shot of the Flickr Gals:

If you’re in the Vancouver Lower Mainland area, and this looks like your idea of a great day, you should contact Krista. I believe she holds these retreats every 6 weeks or so!

Keep your eye on my photostream, as I will be posting plenty more photos from the retreat in the next week or so.

Sonja, These are such great photos! The retreat was so much fun but I certainly ran out of steam fast because of my cold. I can’t wait until the next one!! It was so much fun hanging out with the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild girls (& guy)! Krista always organizes the best retreats! Hugs, L

Oh Laurraine, I just want to sign up right away for her next one ! Although I will choose a less intensive project to work on so I can chit chat and get something accomplished LOL!

Thanks so much for taking photos and sharing, Sonja! I was thinking of you guys all day and love seeing this peek into the retreat. That reducing glass is very cool! Glad to hear you all got home safely in the snow (eventually)!
