The Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild
Is finally in action!
Oh my heavens, these are exciting times people! I can not tell you how long I’ve wanted to be a part of a quilting guild, so when I caught wind of the possibility of the start up of the Vancouver Chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild Phenomenon, I jumped right on in.
Our first meeting was on June 17th, held at the brand spanking new Spool of Thread Sewing Lounge in Vancouver. 45 members strong right from the get go, and boy was there a lot of talent and enthusiasm swirling around the place that night! Here are some highlights of the evening:
Holly welcoming everyone and getting us laughing:
Who’d rather be fabric shopping instead of watching soccer?
and then it was time for show and tell, Oh the quilts were absolutely stunning!
This is only a fraction of the quilts, Click over to the VMQG Flickr Group to see them all!
We had coffee and snacks and some people even brought door prizes to give away:
There were children..
and lots of handmade items floating around..
You really need to check out The Spool of Thread Sewing Lounge…
I love their counter of vintage yardsticks!
Here’s the whole group!
It was oodles of fun and after the meeting ended around 9pm, we did a bit of fabric shopping and chatting we closed out the place around 10pm. Lily of Spool of Thread was an amazing hostess, and I’m so looking forward to the next meeting on Thursday, July 15th. If you’re in the Vancouver area, we’d love for you to join us!
